Overview

Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, and specifications and welds metal components using various welding processes and techniques. Follows established procedures, maintains safety standards, and performs routine checks to ensure product quality.

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

 

1. Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions to plan welding operations.

2. Sets up and operates welding equipment to produce fabricated components.

3. Prepares materials for welding by cleaning surfaces, grinding, and fitting components.

4. Inspects completed welds visually and using testing methods to ensure they meet quality standards.

5. Troubleshoots and repair welds as needed.

6. Maintains welding equipment and tools in good working condition.

7. Follows all safety regulations and wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

8. May operate machinery including welding robots, saws, and grinders.

Qualifications

Job Skills Requirements

 

· Proficiency in multiple welding processes such as GMAW and GTAW.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.

· Knowledge of welding codes, standards, and safety practices.

· Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

· Physical stamina to work in various positions for extended periods.

· Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.

 

Educational Requirements

· High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience.

 

Experience Requirements

· 2 years of professional welding experience.

· Completion of a certified welding program or apprenticeship preferred.

 

Physical & Environmental Requirements

· Some physical demand; often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50lbs/11-27 kgs) material.

· Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).

· Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).

· Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).

· May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
