The Brake Press Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining brake press machines to bend, form, and shape metal components according to specifications. This role ensures high-quality production while maintaining safety, efficiency, and adherence to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate brake press machines to bend and form metal parts per blueprints and work instructions
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders to determine correct tooling and setup
- Select, install, and adjust tooling, dies, and machine settings for optimal performance
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met
- Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as needed to maintain product accuracy
- Measure finished parts using calipers, micrometers, and gauges
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve processes
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–3+ years of experience operating brake press or similar metal fabrication equipment preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Experience with CNC brake press machines (preferred)
- Basic math skills, including measuring and calculating angles and dimensions
- Ability to use precision measuring tools (calipers, angle finder, scale)
