Prepares layouts, details, drawings, and designs according to engineering specifications, with the aid of computer software.
Responsibilities
Reviews engineering drawings, specifications, and supporting documents to verify manufacturability of parts and adherence to company or industry standards.
Develops blank layout from customer prints, 3D models, or sketches.
Creates solid models for products, accessories, tooling, and other related items.
Analyzes design and confers with engineering staff to determine manufacturability and to clarify details not completely defined.
Uses various computer software programs to transfer data to redesign, modify, or otherwise edit existing design.
Reviews drawings to verify completeness, clarity, and accuracy.
Ensures delivery of desired product designs (prototypes and production units) by established due dates.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Job Skills Requirements
Proficiency with modeling software.
Foundational knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures, engineering standards and systems.
Foundational knowledge of manufacturing production/cell development.
Educational Requirements
Associate's degree in CAD, drafting, engineering technology, or related field, or equivalent education and experience.
Experience Requirements
Three years of product design experience required.
Prior experience in the manufacturing industry, specifically metal fabrication, preferred.
