Overview

Delivers all aspects of Supplier Development function and manages a team to ensure that MEC products are fit for purpose and meet customer expectations. Develops and implements business processes that emphasize defect prevention, reduction in variation and waste, and provide opportunities for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and executes the supplier development strategy; designs the metrics to assess function and supplier performance.
  • Performs supplier validation audits. Develops and manages MEC supplier assessment and approval process.
  • Develops and maintains supplier new product launch process to ensure suppliers are capable of delivering to the required quality standards.
  • Analyzes supplier quality and delivery data, monitors supplier scorecard performance, identifies supplier process improvement opportunities, and implements solutions.
  • Monitors and reports on supplier product quality and performance with an understanding of any commercial issues and/or impacts.
  • Contributes to the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policy, process, and procedure to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Analyzes new business initiatives and projects for potential impacts on supplier development activities. Makes recommendations to adjust for or resolve potential issues.
  • Leads, mentors, and manages team, providing guidance and support to ensure individual and collective success while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Completes other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading a successful team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures (e.g., control plans, tech reviews, drawing specifications, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Familiarity with quality and delivery systems and tools (e.g., ERP/MRP systems).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, or related field, or equivalent experience required.

Experience Requirements

  • Seven years of experience in supplier development, supply chain, procurement, or related.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.
