Overview

Review material requirements for actual and forecasted sales, plans, materials, and analyze material requirements to determine when materials will be needed, in accordance with company policies and procedures. Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

1. Provide all necessary support to meet company safety goals and maintain a safe working environment.
2. Plan, schedule, and manage assigned materials using MRP methods.
3. Review ERP status reports and analyze for adequate levels of materials to meet projected production needs.
4. Issue RFQ for Sourcing/Purchasing assigned materials.
5. Review all purchase or MRP requisitions and order accordingly, ensuring the purchase of the highest quality materials, parts, components or services at the most cost effective pricing, while meeting delivery dates.
6. Track status of open orders to ensure on time deliveries.
7. Respond to supply shortages proactively. 
8. Process returns for defective materials and parts.
9. Generate and publish metrics of performance.
10. Assist in reconciling invoice and receiving transaction discrepancies.
11. Adjust the production/work schedules as needed to reflect availability of material or parts, and customer priorities.
12. Responsible for meeting or exceeding posted quality and delivery performance objectives.
13. Negotiate to achieve optimum pricing and procure the materials required to support production at MEC, ensuring achievement of specified inventory turns, without disruption to manufacturing or customer service.
14. Work with suppliers to maintain strong partnerships and help them to achieve desired supplier performance ratings. 
15. Prepare shipping forecasts, monitoring supplier performance against the forecast and identifying deviations from the forecast with suppliers.
16. Assist in expediting purchase orders as necessary to support manufacturing and customer service requirements through prompt resolution of bottlenecks and manufacturing delays with suppliers.
17. Monitor and maintain Safety Stock levels for assigned accounts, initiating actions to ensure sustaining the defined safety stock levels.
18. Work with Sales and Customer Service to keep both informed on conditions and status of external jobs with suppliers that may negatively impact our commitments to customers.
19. Assist the Materials Manager to review to ensure timely resolution of materials, finished goods or work orders that have been placed in non-conforming/non-nettable status from external work done with suppliers, initiating actions to make up any shortfalls required to support customer order needs.
20. Assist the Materials Manager in reporting of billet inventories, charting billet prices, and follow up with suppliers for timely delivery of raw materials to support the production demands.
21. Work effectively with all departments as needed to facility timely processing of orders.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience and Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor Degree and three to 5 years’ experience; or an associate degree and four to six years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience. Training or experience with computerized planning and control systems, along with fundamental literacy in Word and Excel.
