Overview

1st shift  Monday-Thursday  6am-4:30pm 

Fridays is overtime -expect to work Fridays as schedule requires them at high points.

Material Handler

The Material Handler  is responsible for moving, storing, and managing materials and products within the production facility. This position involves loading and unloading materials, organizing inventory, and ensuring the efficient flow of materials to support production processes.  

Secondary responsibilities will include cross-training to back up either shipping, receiving, or another material handler.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities 

  1. Coordinates material movement between departments per routing requirements. 
  2. Sorts questionable materials per Quality Control’s request. 
  3. Prints and distributes pick tickets and performs computer transactions as necessary. 
  4. Organizes sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support. 
  5. Ensures production schedules are met by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.  Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions. 
  6. Ensures good communication and feedback with management, employees on their shift and between shifts. 
  7. When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring. 
  8. Monitors and enforces shop floor control systems. 
  9. Follows all safety procedures, wears proper PPE. Proactively identifies and corrects unsafe conditions. 
  10. Studies systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement.  Proposes changes to Materials Manager.  Assures successful implementation of approved improvements. 
  11. Other duties as assigned. 

Job Skills Requirements 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. 
  • Basic math and computer skills. 

Educational Requirements 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

Experience Requirements 

  • Three years of relevant experience and/or training preferred. 
  • Forklift Certification a plus. 

Qualifications

Physical Demands and Work Environment 

  • Some physical demand; often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.   
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).   
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).   
  • Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).   
  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection is required to be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
