Overview

Our growing company is seeking to hire a Maintenance Technician for our 2nd shift/Byron Center location.  An overview includes routine and emergency mechanical and electrical maintenance on all machines and equipment, diagnoses source of problem or potential problem, and maintains or repairs machines or equipment as needed.

 

**4 - 10 hr. days, 2nd shift position** ($1.50 p/hr. shift premium)

**Overtime Fri. & Sat.**

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses situation or problem, plans and schedules course of action necessary to prevent breakdowns (i.e., preventive maintenance), and makes repairs or improvements to machines/equipment. Performs basic electrical repairs. Installs, removes, fabricates, alters, and rebuilds machines/equipment to achieve desired results and comply with all code requirements.
  • Plans, lays out, and performs all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair intricately designed and constructed tools, fixtures, gages, machine attachments, and mechanisms, ensuring proper fit, alignment, calibration, adjustment, assembly, and completion of work.
  • Operates equipment to ensure effectiveness of repairs and safe operation of equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, and machine manuals in order to perform repairs.
  • Fabricates parts and machine equipment without design, from given, or own design, using lathe, mill, drill press, welder, and brake.
  • Operates testing equipment, powered hand tools, torches, welders, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Assists other maintenance members and serves as resource to engineering and management.
  • Provides project leadership on major installation or revisions of machines and equipment at various MEC facilities.
  • Operates personal computer (PC), via keyboard/mouse, to create work requests and work orders, obtain needed parts in-house or order through tool crib, and obtain historical work order information.
  • Routinely contacts suppliers or manufacturers on part information, repair issues, improvements, and shipping instructions.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills in all maintenance/repair crafts and duties, in addition to basic electronic/electrical knowledge and repair.
  • Maintains user knowledge of all maintenance/repair equipment and test instruments, including material handling equipment, manlifts, voltage testers, small tools, welders, and fabrication equipment.
  • Climbs ladders and/or machinery, stoops, crouches, twists, kneels, crawls, and walks to access repair area while carrying or moving tools and repair parts, including overhead and floor-to-waist lifting of materials weighing over 60 pounds.
  • Operates maintenance equipment, including company vehicles, material handling equipment, and manlifts to heights of 60 feet.
  • Completes all appropriate paperwork.
  • Maintains all equipment and computer documentation.
  • Ensures and maintains safety and cleanliness of equipment, department, plant, and worksite.
  • Coordinates with other maintenance personnel across all shifts to make sure jobs get completed.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong electrical background preferred. 480V and control wiring.
  • Must have complete understanding of Robotic cells and stamping presses
  • Must have complete set of trade tools.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid powered industrial truck operator permit and State of State driver's license.
