Overview

As an employee/owner at MEC you will be transport incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas as assigned.  Operate forklift, electrical hoist or other power driven equipment to load or move materials.  Supply production area with needed materials from inventory.  Load or unload material onto or from pallets, trays, or shelves.  Process required paperwork using RF (Radio Frequency) system when/where available.  Perform preventive maintenance such as: daily vehicle inspection, recharging batteries, or replacing liquefied propane gas (LP) tank.

 

**2nd shift premium = $1.50 p/hr.**

**Sign-on Bonus $1,000**

**Paid Vacation upon hire, Benefits after 30 days**

 

**Work week is 4 - 10hr. days, Mon. through Thurs. (2pm to 12/midnight) and overtime on Fri./Sat. (as needed)**

 

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate material problems, e.g. material shortages, storage problems etc. and where feasible devise and implement procedures to offset loss of labor-hours and production downtime.
  • Ensures accurate, up-to-date records of inventory in stockroom and daily operations; completes necessary forms or paperwork for documentation
  • Helps improve material movement, stockroom layout and oversees rearranging process
  • Reviews difficult or complex work procedures to resolve questions presented by workers
  • Monitor material routes and makes updates if needed.
  •  Works with other material handlers to improve efficiency and safety
  • Able to communicate well with all other employees over all shifts
  • Coordinate material movement between departments per the routing requirements.
  • Sort questionable materials per Quality Control’s request.
  • Print and distribute pick Lists and performs transactions in the ERP system as necessary.
  • Organize sequence of pulling material and relays information to Material Support.
  • Ensures production schedules are met:  by timely and accurate processing and movement of goods.  Assists during daily peak times to include operating material handling equipment and perform all necessary computer transactions.
  • Ensure good communication and feedback with production leads and supervisors, management, employees on their shift and between shifts.
  • When assigned, assists the supervisor/area manager with Continuous Improvement Projects, evaluation of new equipment, determination of training needs and interviewing/hiring.
  • Monitor and enforce shop floor control systems.
  • Study systems and procedures for opportunities for improvement.  Propose changes to Materials Manager.  Assures successful implementation of approved improvements.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or HSED/GED; six months to one year related experience and/or training a plus.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.  Ability to write routing reports and correspondence in English.  Ability to speak effectively in English before groups.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess or be willing to obtain MEC Material Handling Certification and CLD License A/B.
