Overview

Our growing company is looking to hire a Shipping & Receiving Coordinator.  In this role, you will transport incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas as assigned.  Operate forklift, electrical hoist or other power-driven equipment to load or move materials.  Load or unload material onto or from pallets, trays or shelves.  Process required paperwork.  Perform preventive maintenance such as: daily vehicle inspection, recharging batteries or replacing liquefied propane gas (LP) tank

 

A role like this comes with some important responsibilities, some of those responsibilities include:

 

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items outgoing or incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, packing slips, address labels and other records.
  • Determines method of shipment.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers.
  • Inserts items into containers.
  • Secures product to pallets using stretch wrap or metal banding.
  • Stamps, stencils or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Operates lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
  • Operates powered lift truck or hand truck to load outgoing freight onto trucks.
  • Performs all necessary computer transactions.
  • Operates weight scale and digital counter.
  • Inserts items into containers.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Routes items to departments.
  • Maintains inventory of receiving materials and supplies.
  • Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags or labels.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

What Does It Take to Be a Fit for This Role?

  • High school diploma or general education is preferred.
  • Experience with driving a forklift.
  • Ability to understand work orders and follow instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow at MEC safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to left up to 50 lbs at a time. This position involves a lot of bending, twisting and lifting.
