Overview

The Program Launch Engineer plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that project objectives are accomplished within prescribed timelines and funding parameters. 

Responsibilities

  • Reviews blueprints, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates or projected changes in production for customer’s use of MEC’s services.  
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project. 
  • Coordinates the activities of Engineering, Tool Engineering, Production, and other necessary teams on various critical orders to ensure delivery consistent with customer requirements. 
  • Identifies and manages key risks, issues, and roadblocks. 
  • Creates and maintains good working relationships with all customer contacts. 
  • Responds to customer requests for information (quotes, project information, and general information) promptly. 
  • Promote MEC’s Design for Manufacturing (DFM) capabilities to reduce part cost. 
  • Reports to Management on trends or changes occurring to customers, prospects, and/or manufacturing metal products. 
  • Provide estimated costs to sales for new projects and changes to existing. 
  • Completes other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

Job Skills Requirements 

  • Working knowledge of process improvement principles, such as Lean or Six Sigma. 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes. 

 

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent experience. 

Experience Requirements 

  • Three years of experience in engineering. 
  • Previous experience in manufacturing industry preferred.
