Responsibilities

As an employee/owner at MEC, the Process Technician will assist the engineering team with various aspects of managing the introduction of new projects from initial concept to production hand-off, and with support of existing production parts, processes, and equipment.

 

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as deemed necessary.

 

  • Monitor welding process controls to maintain stable performance and achieve expected results including process variables, parameters, and periodic inspection of key product features.

 

  • Develop and maintain written work instructions, setup documentation, and shop floor inspection / control plan documentation to aid and assist manufacturing operations.

 

  • Determe rework plans when necessary to produce parts that meet customer expectations.

 

  • Work with, or lead, cross-functional team in continuous improvement projects.

 

  • Assist process engineering in preventative and correction action procedures.

 

  • Participate in design of parts, processes, tools, and returnable packaging.

 

  • Study and record time, motion, methods, and other process data to improve performance of operations throughout the organization.

 

  • Assist in developing charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates degree (A.S.) in Engineering, preferably with AWS Welding certificate, or industrial or manufacturing focus from a two-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in a metal fabrication environment.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations written in English.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in English from groups of managers, customers, or other employees.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to work effectively in Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.  Ability to work in SolidWorks CAD software, or familiar with 3D CAD concepts.  Ability to learn and work a diverse range of in house systems / applications.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.  Ability to prioritize tasks coming from a variety of sources competing over resources.
