    MEC, Inc. is currently looking for a Tool and Fixture Designer for our Byron Center, MI location.  And in this position the top candidate will be responsible for designing weld figures, assemblly fixtures, jigs and gages in 3-D CAD.  Performs and coordinates tool design reviews on internally and externally built tools.


    Required Skills

    • Studies print specifications (including weld call-outs), engineering blueprints (including GD&T), tool orders, and shop data and confer with engineering and shop personnel to design tooling that meets quoted manufacturing rates and costs
    • Details drawings for tooling builds, manages tool geometry in PNM system including and exporting files to correct directories
    • Applies algebraic and geometric formulas and standard tool bits to incorporate into tool design
    • Modifies tool designs according to trial or production service data to improve tool life or performance
    • Facilitates design reviews of out of house designs to keep schedules on time


    Required Experience

    • Associates Degree in Design or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school preferred; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Knowledge of metal forming tolerances preferred but can be taught to interested candidates
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook, and Solidworks 3D CAD
    • Must be eligible to work in the United States without assistance
