  • Overview

    Integrated in all aspects of the business, the Cost Accountant position generates daily, weekly and monthly reporting that ranges from supplier expense reviews to gross margin performance and numerous areas in between.

    Responsibilities

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Primary internal customers: Accounting Department, Corporate Administration, President and Vice Presidents, Plant Managers and Supervisors.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Take the lead in the timely and accurate month end close process and subsequent month end report generation.
    • Various ad hoc analysis of financial data as assigned.
    • Review of monthly account reconciliations/margin reviews.
    • Ongoing review and improvement as warranted of the departmental expenses, including suggestions for improvements/cost reductions.
    • Update weekly job costings, material costs, etc.
    • Monitor overhead rates and spending.
    • Involved with quarterly forecasting and yearly budgeting.
    • Cross train in order to provide support to General Accounting as needed.
    • Other projects and analysis as assigned by the Controller.

     

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree with an accounting or finance emphasis.
    • Ability to challenge the team and others with a continuous improvement mindset to achieve effective and efficient workflow within the accounting group and other functional areas of the business.
    • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with a variety of functional areas.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Motivated individual who wants to grow professionally and personally that will turn challenges into opportunities

     

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • MBA and/or CPA/CMA certification a plus.
    • Prior public accounting experience a plus.
