    MEC, Inc. is currently looking for a Quality Engineer for Atkins/Wytheville, VA location.  And in this position the top candidate will be responsible for the implementation of customer quality requirements and the integrity of internal quality processes and procedures.  Reviewing prints and other specifications with respect to design intent and quality standards; evaluate drawings relative to dimensions, datum, and tolerances that effect fit, functions, durability, functional gauging and product assessment.  Meet with customer representatives to establish critical characteristics, SPC points and monitoring methods.  Participate in check fixture designs, obtain customer approval for fixture designs, and coordinate efforts of fixture sources and layout to obtain certifications.  Assist launch teams in performing Failure Mode and Effects of Analysis and Control Plan for every part prior to tool completions.  Establish inspection and operational instructions, SPC methods and charting for all new parts.  Work with launch team and tool sources to prove process capability at tool tryout.  Coordinate first production runs for proper quality and process controls and Initial Sample Inspection Report improvement efforts.  Review quarantined material and be able to recommend disposition activity as required.  Direct workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.  Lead problem solving teams and motivate its participants.

    •Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook including3-D CAD Systems, GD&T and typical drafting standards

    •Skilled in project management with cross functional teams; meeting facilitation; and prior tool shop tryouts preferred

    •Able to understand the full scope and impact of assigned initiatives; full understanding of metal forming and assembly operations including MIG and resistant welding, coil fed progressive stamping, line dies, e-coating, powder coating, tube bending, cutting and forming

    •Communicate effectively with various organizational levels

    •Must be able to travel


    Required Experience

    •Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or CQE by ASQC

    •2-3 years' work experience in field or related area

    •Solid knowledge in welding procedures, ISO9000 and TS16949, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, MSA, Process Flow, Corrective Action Process required

    •Must be eligible to work in the United States without assistance
