MEC is currently looking for a Materials Manager for our Greenwood, SC manufacturing facility.  And in this position the top candidate will direct the Materials Management and Accuracy Team consisting of Inventory Control, Production Planning, Shipping/Receiving, and Material Handlers to maximize customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage material transactions from receiving to shipping.
  • Develop and execute practices with regard to material planning, inventory management and cycle counting.
  • Plan and schedule material flow to ensure appropriate warehousing and distribution of raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods.
  • Manage and maintain an accurate inventory database.
  • Develop and maintain a system of accountability for obsolete and nonconforming materials.
  • Responsible for effectively planning, directing, and executing the activities of the Materials Team using a systems and database approach to meet the needs of the business.
  • Identify, plan, and implement activities designed to reduce costs while improving quality, safety, and delivery methods.

Supervisory Responsibilities  Manages staff who are responsible for day to day activities this position is responsible for the direction and evaluation of this area. Supervises in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsible to interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience  Four-year degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, manufacturing or related field, plus a minimum of 5 years experience in production control/materials management discipline. Extensive knowledge of world class manufacturing processes such as: Kanban, MRP, JIT, and Lean Manufacturing experience.

 

Language Skills  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

Reasoning Ability  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
