Loads, unloads, and moves material within or near plant, yard, or work site.
Reads work order or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
Loads and unloads material onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
Conveys material from storage or work sites to designed areas.
Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
Counts, weighs, and records number of unit’s materials moved or handled on a daily production sheet.
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
Loads truck for Industrial Truck Operator.
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
Removes samples of material and/ or labels with identifying information as needed.
Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.
Assembles crates to contain products such as machines or vehicles.
Shovels loose material such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics, or chemicals, into machine hoppers or into vehicles and containers such as wheelbarrows, scrap truck, or barrels.
Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products

High school diploma or (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to write simple correspondence. Must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. The ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Must have the ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions, the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must have a valid driver’s license and a valid Powered Industrial Lift Truck License for MEC Inc.
While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities of this job include: distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Noise level for the work environment is usually moderate. While performing his/hers duties the employee is exposed to the conditions of the weather outside. Humid conditions, rain/snow or very cold/hot.
