Overview

Plans, directs, and coordinates internal activities of designated project to ensure that goals or objectives of project are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or through project team members.

Responsibilities

Assists and/or leads the internal engineering functions to support product manufacture.  These duties include but are not limited to BOM creation & maintenance, router creation & maintenance, internal drawing reviews, and release coordination.

 

Is responsible for sample job or first article part releases and ensuring a robust process is developed prior to production startup. 

 

Has internal engineering responsibility for assigned projects from receipt of customer PO to end of life.  Responsibilities include revision changes, process reviews, review of non-conforming material and product/process improvement activities.

 

Serves as a liaison between the shop floor and the Sales Engineer pertaining to customer requests and changes.

 

Coordinates the activities of Engineering, Tool Engineering, and Manufacturing on various critical orders to insure delivery, consistent with customer requirements

 

Participant in DFM and DPAR activities

 

Has the ability to review blueprints, plans and other customer documents used to develop and prepare cost estimates or projected changes in production from customer’s use of MEC’s services.

 

Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.

 

Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.

 

Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.

 

Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.

 

Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering, preferably mechanical or manufacturing from a four-year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferably in a metal fabrication environment.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations written in English.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in English from groups of managers, customers, or other employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
